While most red carpet observers tend to focus on who designed the frock, the next time you’re getting up to speed on the latest fancy black tie event, be sure to focus on the jewellery.

Styled with the right jewellery, a formal look has the power to tell a beautiful story and emphasise the unique personality of the wearer.

Jewellery can either make or break a red carpet look. Too much, and you can look overdone; too little and it can make the look seem incomplete and ‘meh’. The type of jewellery chosen should complement, not overpower or detract from the outfit in any way.

I absolutely love collaborating with my good friend and favourite fashion creative, the uber-talented couture designer Daniel Learmont, to complete his red carpet looks with my jewellery. Our pieces have been expertly paired up by stylists for a few Australian red carpets in recent years, and I feel I owe a good part of the exposure I’ve received to working with Daniel on these looks over the years.

In this blog, I’m looking back on the times my jewellery was worn by talented Australian women, and how the jewellery helps the looks come together.

Leigh Sales – 2022 TV Week Logies

Leigh Sales – 2022 TV Week Logies

Wow! What a way to go out after an outstanding 12-year career hosting ABC’s 7:30. Leigh absolutely radiated in her tangerine gown, created by Daniel Learmont.

Leigh’s look works so well because: COLOUR! The bright tangerine gown is well complemented by the vivid colours of the quartz and tourmaline.

For this look, her stylist selected:

Noni Hazelhurst – 2017 TV Week Logies

Noni Hazelhurst – 2017 TV Week Logies

Noni is one of Australia’s most talented actors (she and the ‘A Place to Call Home’ cast and team were awarded the Logie for Most Outstanding Drama in 2017 to prove it!). Noni’s dress, by Daniel Learmont, is a gorgeous pale shade of green.

We matched my Green amethyst, moonstone and purple amethyst set in 14ct gold drop earrings with this gown as the light shade of the light green amethyst absolutely complemented the hue of the gown.

Recognise these earrings? Before Leigh Sales adorned them this year, they were first worn in 2017 at the TV Week Logies.

The colour of the carnelian beads and gold shells work so well with the orange hue of Sara’s gown.

Sarah Wiseman is stunning in Daniel’s chartreuse and lilac brocade gown. The silver, purple and light green from the jewellery make the tones in the gown pop!

Her gown has been paired with these pieces from my collection:

Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood – 2017 TV Week Logies

Arianwen is wearing a one-of-a-kind cream couture gown by Daniel Learmont and my clear quartz beaded multi-strand necklace with an 18ct handmade gold clasp. This necklace is best worn with short hair or the hair up to reveal the gold clasp at back.

Arianwen cuts a strong figure in Daniel Learmont’s crisp white gown here, which was paired with a pair of my gold turquoise and pearl earrings. The turquoise in the earrings are an unexpected but welcome pop of colour against the all-white gown.

Emma is wearing a lilac chantilly lace and gold beaded gown with a diaphanous ombre silk organza skirt by Daniel Learmont Couture. We paired this with our green amethyst, moonstone and purple amethyst set in 14ct gold drop earrings (also worn by Noni Hazelhurst to the 2017 Logies!)

The hues in both the gown and earrings complement and the luster of the green amethyst completes the diaphanous look of the skirt, making the whole look ethereal.
